Dr Harinder Bains

I am the General secretary of BIPA and currently work as a clinical director in South of England for Elysium Healthcare. My role includes strategic development of services in partnership with NHS England and aligning care pathways from secure to community services in line with the Transforming care agenda, and supporting the clinical governance and neurodevelopmental network in the organization. My clinical role is working as a consultant forensic psychiatrist in a secure setting.

I have previously worked as a regional clinical director in Partnerships in Care and lead consultant for learning disabilities services in Surrey and Borders NHS Foundation Trust

I completed my medical training from Agra, India and did psychiatric training from London and Nottingham. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych). I also have a Masters in Mental Health Law (LL.M).

Till recently, I was co-opted on to the Executive committee of the Intellectual Disabilities faculty at the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
