Dr Ananta Dave

Dr. Ananta Dave is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist working in the West Midlands in a Community CAMH [Child & Adolescent Mental Health] service. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and holds a Master’s degree in Medical Ethics and Law.

Along with seeing patients presenting with complex and multiple problems, she has set up and runs the Autism Disorders clinic in her service. She is the Named Doctor for Child Safeguarding in her Trust [Dudley & Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust], Clinical Director for Quality & Safety, and Chair of the Trust’s Suicide Prevention group. She is actively involved in teaching and training, as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor and Academic Tutor for the West Midlands Child Psychiatry Specialist training scheme. Dr. Dave is a member of the Executive Committee of the Child & Adolescent Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists with the specific roles of Safeguarding and Policy Joint Lead. She is passionate about helping develop a leadership culture which promotes the wellbeing of the workforce and is actively involved in mentoring and supporting doctors in difficulty. 

Her interests lie in promoting and understanding ethical decision making by clinicians, medical leadership for quality improvement and contributing to effective working at interfaces between health and social care, physical and mental health, and primary and secondary care. She regularly trains and presents on these topics. 

As Vice-President and President-Elect of BIPA Dr. Dave are keen to see a more diverse leadership within BIPA, especially encouraging more women to become members and to take up leadership positions and to ensure BIPA evolves to meet the needs of its members in today’s demanding healthcare landscape.
