Dr. Ananta Dave is the immediae past President of British Indian Psychiatric Association. She is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist and Medical Director at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and holds a Master’s degree in Medical Ethics and Law. Along with seeing patients presenting with complex and multiple problems, she did set up and led the Autism Disorders clinic in her previous service. She was the Named Doctor for Child Safeguarding in her previous role at Dudley & Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, Clinical Director for Quality & Safety, and Chaired Trust’s Suicide Prevention group.
Dr. Dave is a member of the Executive Committee of the Child & Adolescent Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists with the specific roles of Safeguarding and Policy Joint Lead. She is passionate about helping develop a leadership culture which promotes the well-being of the workforce and is actively involved in mentoring and supporting doctors in difficulty.
Dr Ananta Dave chaired the Royal College of Psychiatrists Task and Finish Group to look into growing concerns about the disproportionate impact the pandemic is having on BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) staff. The group was asked to rapidly develop recommendations on how mental health services in the UK can support BAME staff. Dr Dave was awarded a 2019 Churchill Fellowship, an overseas research grant by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, which she used to learn about US strategies for preventing doctors from dying by suicide, and how these might be applied in the UK. Dr Ananta Dave travelled to the United States to learn from areas of good practice in preventing suicide among doctors.
