Dr Prasanth Ampalam
I am a Consultant Psychiatrist and Associate Clinical Director at Devon Partnership Trust. I completed my MD in Psychiatry in India and previously worked as an Associate Professor at MIMS Medical College in Andhra Pradesh. In 2018, I achieved my MRCPSYCH qualification.
I have a strong passion for teaching, having served as a medical school teacher in India for seven years, and have continued this role since moving to the UK. Currently, I am a lecturer at Plymouth University and a Clinical Reasoning Assessor for undergraduate students, as well as an ARCP panel member.
Additionally, I am dedicated to supporting International Medical Graduate (IMG) psychiatrists in finding their way in the UK. I am the IMG lead for the buddy system in our trust. I have been actively involved in CASC coaching and have helped many IMG psychiatrists through various schemes and contacts.
I envision the British Indian Psychiatric Association (BIPA) as a platform for young psychiatrists to make connections, feel included, and rely on a supportive community. I aspire for BIPA to extend beyond borders, providing coaching and mentoring to aspiring psychiatrists and guiding them toward successful careers in the UK.
