Dr. Santosh Mudholkar is President of British Indian Psychiatric Association (BIPA) and Associate Registrar (Membership Engagement), Royal College of Psychiatrists, London. Dr. Mudholkar graduated in Medicine in India and completed core psychiatry and specialist Forensic Psychiatry training in London, U.K. As a core trainee, Dr. Mudholkar was awarded the prestigious Priory Research Fellowship at the Academic Department of Psychiatry, Charing Cross Hospital, Imperial College London.
Dr. Mudholkar works as Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist with Nottinghamshire Mental Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Dr. Mudholkar is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He was a Trainee Editor, British Journal of Psychiatry between 2005-2010 and currently is the Clinical Editor, RCPsych Insight magazine. He has been associated with BIPA since it’s inception in 1996.
Dr. Mudholkar is sensitive to the issues of International Medical Graduates (IMGs), minority ethnic groups working in the frontline in NHS particularly discrimination, bullying and harassment at workplace and mental wellbeing. Dr. Mudholkar is passionate about raising the profile of BAME psychiatrists, developing a framework of robust peer support and medical leadership opportunities for BIPA members, fighting racism and increasing mental health awareness in ethnic minority communities.
During his BIPA Presidentship Dr Mudholkar will be working with a highly motivated BIPA Executive Committee (EC) focusing on developing a professional relationship with RCPsych and other organisations, create platform to support psychiatric trainees doing professionals exams and facilitate exchange of scientific, educational ideas with psychiatric colleagues in India, undertake charitable activities in U.K. and India.
