Dr. Abrar Hussain is a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist based in Berkshire. He runs the community psychological medicine service for patients with medically unexplained symptoms including a specialist clinic for functional neurological disorders. Abrar is an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapist and an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. He has presented his work and won prizes at the national and international level. He has a special interest in trauma and its somatic manifestation.
He is a qualified mentor within the Thames Valley and Wessex Leadership Academy. He has a postgraduate qualification in University Learning and Teaching from Imperial College, London and is the course director for the 'Cognitions for CASC training course' providing coaching for the MRCPsych examination.
Abrar was the honorary treasurer in BIPA for 2 successive terms during the transition period when the organization achieved charity status. He is currently a trustee in BIPA as well as an EC member. He is an EC member of the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO).
